BETFINAL SPECIAL:

It’s the 2018 World Cup a time when all sporting fans around the world come together. We caught up with Tim as he begins his journey from his hometown of Sweden as he cycles all the way to Russia on his beloved bicycle. Tim is hoping to make it in time too support his country for Sweden’s first match at this year’s World Cup.

Recently spoken with Tim shortly after his journey began.

‘So the journey has begun and I have left Sweden and heading via Latvia making distances of 100km on average. In Sweden, you are allowed to put up your tent for one night pretty much everywhere and I have been using this opportunity to camp along lakes. I crossed the country to the east coast and followed that coastline north to Nynäshamn were I took a ferry across the Baltic sea towards Latvia. Total distance in Sweden from Göteborg to Nynäshamn was 700km. The first leg has also been about acclimatizing the body to journey and all the biking. The weight of the bicycle is 16kg and I have another 20kg of gear to carry on the bike panniers so it’s a bit of weight that I am pushing all the way to Russia. In Latvia, the journey continues along the beautiful Baltic sea towards Riga and after that crossing the country towards Russia. Challenges so far have been dealing with the aggressive mozzies that are always present in the evening.’

Everything seems to be going to plan for now! But will Tim be greeted with great weather all the way through his journey?
‘I have been very blessed with the weather conditions and so far no rain on the tour. This gave me the opportunity to capture plenty of the tour with the drone so that you guys can get a feeling of what its like on the roads! I can also say that I am on schedule to reach the FIFA World Cup in time! Sweden has played a friendly game against Denmark that ended 0-0. It looks like our defense is solid but we need to find more creative solutions offensively to be more of a threat to our opponents, hopefully, this will be in place for the World Cup so that the Swedish fans can enjoy plenty of goals during the tournament! Next time I will give an update from Russia!’
