FIFA World Cup 2018 Russia. 14th June – 15th July 2018.

Faced with the almost impossible task of predicting what will happen at this years World Cup, Betfinal reached out to their expert to give us his insight into what he expects to happen.

Who will reach the final? BRAZIL Vs SPAIN

Some might accuse me of picking the two strongest nations, but that’s exactly why I expect them to be in the final. The Spanish have had a whirlwind of a week and sacked their manager yesterday, however I expect the calibre of their players to use it to give them a shock advantage. They will not have an easy route to the final facing Portugal in their group, and then potential fixtures against Uruguay, Argentina, and Belgium on the way.

Who will win the World Cup? BRAZIL

Although there is no clear favourite for the World Cup, its extremely hard to look past Brazil as they seek to claim their sixth world trophy. Although qualifying counts for nothing (ask England) they finished 10 points clear in their group and never conceded more than one goal under their new boss. After all the Brazilians love a World Cup and with 19 out of the 23 men in their squad featuring in next years Champions League their squad has serious depth. They’re the only country to qualify for every World Cup, and they’re the only nation to win more than four. So with the greatest squad and history on their side, I fancy the Brazilians!

Who will win the Golden Boot (top scorer)? GREIZMANN

Last time out he was France’s greatest player at the Euro’s and he Frenchman has had the perfect year. With everybody still speculating about his future and where he will end up this is the perfect opportunity for him to show the World exactly what he is capable off. Although I think France will head out in the semi’s I feel Greizmann has enough to win the Golden Boot.

Potential dark horses? MEXICO

After the announcement that Mexico will co-host the 2026 World Cup, there’s surely no better time to stun the world and attempt to reach knock out stages, especially as cost hosts USA and Canada failed to qualify. They are strong but underrated side, and will come up against defending champions Germany in the group stage. If they can get out of their group I fancy their chances.

Which team will flop? GERMANY

If Germany fail to make the semi final it will be the first time since 1998 they have done so. After all they are the reigning champions and we know the Germans set the bar high and thats why I predict they could be the ‘flop’ of the tournament, at least by German standards. After causing the biggest shock in recent tournaments when they thrashed Brazil and went on to beat Argentina in the final, I feel it could be time to the Germans to experience the World Cup heart break. Anything less than the final will be seen as failure by the Germans.

Who will win the Golden Ball (best player)? NEYMAR

After watching his side crash out of the World Cup hosted in their own country, Brazil’s poster boy will be eager to seek revenge. After being taken out with a horrific injury in the quarter finals Neymar then watched his side be humiliated 7-1 by the Germans. Im backing Brazil to go all the way and there’s only one man as keen to get his hands on the trophy as Cristiano Ronaldo, and thats Neymar Jr.

Who will win the Golden Glove (best keeper)? DAVID DE GEA

One of the most reliable keepers in the game the Premier League shot stopper

made 18 clean sheets and 115 saves this season with Manchester United. Not only does he make match wining saves but he rarely makes a mistake. Spain look set to go all the way, and keepers (not strikers) are the ones who win you World Cups!
